Mrs. Mary Louise "Shannon" Gruner, who with her husband, W.E. Gruner - G-75-3, only recently moved to Fair Dealing, MO, to enjoy Mr. Gruner's retirement, died at 10:10 p.m. last night at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN, of cancer. She had been ill about four months. She was 53.

The Gruner's formerly lived on Brentwood CL, in Memphis, and owned/operated Highland Heights Printing Company. Mr. Gruner had retired from the Veterans Hospital as a male nurse.

Mrs. Gruner was born in New Albany, MS. the daughter of a widely known physician there (Dr. R.L. Shannon). She was a member of the Church of Christ and known as a devoted wife and mother.

She leaves three sons, Capt. C. Davis, stationed at Ft. Sill, OK., R. Gruner, of Memphis, and Walter Gruner, of the Marines stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C.; two daughters; Helen Louise Baker of Memphis and Nancy Gruner Lancaster, of Millington. Three sisters: Mrs. Wade Pierce and Mrs. Ruby Lucas of Memphis, and Mrs. Ophelia Arnold of Mobile, AL, and three brothers, John W. Shannon of Memphis, William Shannon of New Orleans, and Dr. P. Shannon, and nine grandchildren.

Memphis Funeral Home is in charge and she will be buried at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Memphis, TN.
